Tiered Approach
In line with the commitment to safeguard capacity and support personnel already
in the Organization, a majority of UNDP UNCDF/UNV vacancies are advertised using
a tiered application process whereby:
* Tier 0: UNDP/UNCDF/UNV IP staff holding permanent (PA) and fixed-term (FTA)
appointments, whose posts will be abolished, or contracts will be terminated
or not renewed during 2026.
* Tier 1: Other UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff holding permanent (PA) and fixed-term
(FTA) appointments
* Tier 2: UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff holding temporary appointments (TA), personnel

Office/Unit/Project Description
The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) is responsible for
positioning UNDP as the world’s leading global development agency, promoting its
global authority and thought leadership on sustainable development and the
interconnected issues of poverty, inequality, and climate change.
BERA leads and supports UNDP in building and nurturing strategic relationships
and alliances essential to achieving its mission. Creating strong political and
financial backing for UNDP by providing partners and supporters with a clear
understanding of what UNDP does and how our mission, capabilities and flagship
services relate to them. BERA coordinates and sets corporate standards across
the functions of partnerships, marketing and communications within UNDP and
leads on internal communications.
Within BERA, the Digital Communications Studio plays an essential role to
develop and manage UNDP’s global online presence, creating compelling
public-facing content, leading on social networks and digital engagement,
building capacities for greater impact through digital communications, and
helping build a strong brand for UNDP. As part of an organization-wide digital
transformation, the team has recently launched a major overhaul of UNDP’s
corporate websites (including the enterprise web CMS) rolled out in 2021, which
continues to require finetuning, features testing and upgrades.
To help with this endeavor the Digital Communications Studio is looking for a
Web and Social Media Editor (French) to manage UNDP’s corporate web site and
social media presence in French. The Web and Social Media Editor (French) is
part of the Digital Communications Studio team and will be supervised by the Web
Copywriting Specialist.
Scope of Work
1.Manage UNDP’s global social media channels (Twitter and Facebook) in French
* Working closely with the Social Media Specialist, determine goals for reach
and engagement through social media for a French-speaking audience.
* Plan and implement social media strategies for global communication projects
and campaigns.
* Evaluate effectiveness of French social media platforms through reporting and
analytics.
2.Create, edit and produce content in French for the global public web site and
other digital platforms
* Work with Web Copywriting Specialist and communication focal points at
headquarters and in regional and country offices to solicit or curate French
content based on editorial calendar for digital communications.
* Review and edit web stories, headlines, video scripts, photo captions, etc.
in French, liaising with the rest of the team to ensure consistency across
languages.
* Translate or review translations from English into French, proofreading and
reformulating if necessary for optimal web presentation.
* Along with web production specialists, UX and graphic designers and
video/photo editors, research and select visual assets for multimedia
stories.
* Produce and publish content on French global web site using corporate digital
experience platform (Drupal/Acquia).
3.Conduct maintenance and quality assurance of the corporate website
* Continuously monitor French corporate website and digital platforms, checking
for outdated information, poor functionality and user experience shortcomings
* Correct or work with production team colleagues to correct errors and
implement upgrades to the corporate website
* Suggest front-end and back-end user experience improvements and work with
digital team colleagues to implement upgrades to the corporate website
* Curate the French homepage of the corporate website to ensure alignment with
corporate communications priorities
4. Facilitate knowledge sharing
* Identify, synthesize and document best practices and lessons learned that are
generated from the project and implementing partners.
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed
necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation
needed related to UNDP’s digital communications ecosystem
Institutional Arrangement
The Web and Social Media Editor (French) will work under the direct supervision
of the Web Copywriting Specialist, Digital Communications Studio and overall
guidance of the Senior Management of the Advocacy, Marketing and Communications
Group in BERA.

Min. Education requirements
* Advance university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications,
Journalism, Social Science or related field is required. Or
* A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned
above in combination with an additional 2 (two) years of qualifying
experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university
degree.
Min. years of relevant work experience
* Applicants with a master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of
study are not required to have professional work experience
* Applicants with a bachelor’s degree are required to have minimum of 2 years
of work experience in digital communications, media, marketing, journalism or
another relevant field;
Desired skills
* Experience creating content for social media platforms or managing accounts
* Experience in digital communications, media, marketing, journalism or another
relevant field;
* Experience working with content management systems
* Experience within the United Nations System or similar organization
* Experience producing and publishing web content in French
